Okay, so, my daughter’s getting hitched, and that means I gotta find a dress, right? A mother of the bride dress. And not just any dress, a dress in Chicago. So here’s how that whole adventure went down.
First, I started looking on my phone, just, you know, browsing around. I saw some people talking about finding dresses on some site. And they had some pretty good deals, which is always nice. But I’m more of a “try it on before I buy it” kind of gal.
Then I remembered seeing something on Pinterest a while back, maybe a year or two ago, about mother of the bride stuff. So I hopped on there and started scrolling through pictures. Lots of pretty dresses, but it’s hard to tell if something’s gonna look good on you just from a picture, you know?
I even stumbled across this one place online where people were asking if their dresses were okay for weddings. Like, “Is this too flashy?” or “Is this color alright?” It was kind of entertaining, but it also made me a little nervous. I don’t want to be the mom who shows up in the wrong thing!
My friend told me about this store, I think it’s called Dillard’s or something. They have a bunch of dresses for the mother of the bride, and even for grandmothers! They have all sizes, too, which is great. But, again, it was all online, and I really wanted to try stuff on.
I spent some time looking at other people’s dresses on the internet, trying to get ideas. But honestly, it felt kind of overwhelming. There are just so many choices!
And it’s not just about looking good. I mean, I’m getting older, and things like menopause change your body, you know? So I wanted a dress that’s comfortable, too. There was even this website, I can’t remember the name, but it had pictures of all kinds of women with different body types, which was kind of cool. It was all about celebrating real women’s bodies.
So, after all that online searching, I decided to just go to some stores in Chicago. I’ll probably hit up a few different places, try on a bunch of dresses, and see what happens. It’s a bit of a mission, but it’ll be worth it to find the perfect dress for my daughter’s big day. Wish me luck!
