Okay, so, I got roped into planning my best friend’s winter wedding, and let me tell you, figuring out what the bridesmaids should wear was a whole thing! We wanted everyone to look gorgeous, obviously, but also not freeze their butts off. It was a challenge, for sure.
Brainstorming Session
First, I gathered the bridal party, my best friend included. We sat down with some hot chocolate (because, winter, duh) and started brainstorming. We knew we wanted something that screamed “winter wonderland” but also “I’m not going to get frostbite.” I opened my laptop, found some useful suggestions from the internet.
Fabric Selection
Velvet was a big contender. I mean, it’s so luxurious and warm, right? We spent a good hour just feeling different velvet swatches. Then there were sequins. They’re so sparkly and festive, but I was worried they might be a bit too much, you know? I personally thought that velvet is the best for winter. We decided that velvet is the best choice.
Style Hunting
Then came the style. Long sleeves were a must. We looked at a ton of dresses online, and let me tell you, there are a lot of options out there. We considered dresses with high necklines and covered backs, too. Keeping everyone warm was the top priority. We chatted about it on our group text for like, a week. Finally, we narrowed it down to a few styles that everyone liked.
Accessorizing
And accessories! We toyed with the idea of faux fur wraps. They looked so cozy and chic in the pictures, but we weren’t sure if they’d be practical. We also looked into shawls and capes. I mean, who doesn’t love a good cape moment? They were all so pretty. After trying on some of the accessories, we finally made the decision.
Decision
After a lot of back and forth, a few minor disagreements, and maybe a couple of meltdowns (mostly from me), we finally made a decision! We went with long-sleeved velvet dresses in a deep, rich color. They looked stunning on everyone, and they were actually warm! And we ended up getting some really cute faux fur shawls that everyone could wear for the outdoor photos. I bought all these online and made them shipped to each of the bridesmaid.
In the end, it all worked out perfectly. Everyone looked amazing, and no one froze, so I’d say it was a success! Planning a winter wedding is definitely not for the faint of heart, but seeing my best friend and her bridesmaids happy and comfortable made it all worth it. And, I learned a lot about winter fabrics and bridal fashion!
