Okay, so, I decided to go with a lunchtime wedding. Yeah, you heard that right. A lunch wedding. Sounds a bit unusual, I know, but let me walk you through how it all went down.

Is a Lunchtime Wedding Right for You? Pros and Cons to Consider

First off, finding the right time was a big deal. I mean, when do you even start a lunch wedding? We kicked things off at 11 AM. It was early, sure, but it gave us the whole day to enjoy. We got the formal stuff done and then had the rest of the day to just chill and hang out with our guests.

Then came the venue hunt. Now, this was a bit tricky. We needed a place that was cool with hosting a wedding in the middle of the day. We checked out a bunch of places, some were like, “A lunch wedding? What’s that?” But then we found this awesome spot that was totally into it. It was a cute little restaurant with a garden – perfect for a relaxed vibe.

Food was next on the list. We thought, “What do people eat at lunch?” We didn’t want anything too heavy, so we ditched the formal dinner idea. Instead, we went with a buffet. We had all sorts of stuff – salads, sandwiches, some pasta, and even a taco station! Everyone seemed to love the variety, and it was way easier on the wallet than a full-on dinner.

Drinks, we kept simple. No open bar or anything like that. We had some wine, a few beers, and a couple of signature cocktails that we named ourselves. Oh, and lots of non-alcoholic options too, like homemade lemonade and iced tea.

For entertainment, we skipped the DJ and the dance floor. I mean, who really wants to dance in the afternoon? Instead, we hired a local band to play some acoustic music. It was super chill and set the perfect mood. We also had some lawn games like giant Jenga and croquet. It was a blast!

One thing we were worried about was the timing. Would people be bored? Would it drag on? To keep things moving, we planned some activities. After the ceremony, we had a cocktail hour with appetizers, then lunch, then the speeches and cake cutting. It all flowed pretty naturally. We didn’t rush anything, but we also made sure there weren’t any long, awkward pauses.

Here’s a breakdown of how the day went:

  • 11:00 AM: Ceremony starts. Short and sweet, just how we wanted it.
  • 11:30 AM: Cocktail hour. Drinks, snacks, and mingling.
  • 12:30 PM: Lunch is served! Buffet time.
  • 1:30 PM: Speeches and toasts. Lots of laughs and happy tears.
  • 2:00 PM: Cake cutting. We had a small, delicious cake and also a dessert table with cupcakes and cookies.
  • 2:30 PM onwards: Games, music, and just hanging out.

Honestly, the whole day was super relaxed and fun. The weather was perfect, the food was great, and everyone seemed to have a good time. Plus, we saved a ton of money by not having a traditional evening wedding. I think having the guest list under 75 was a good idea.

So, yeah, that’s how my lunchtime wedding went down. It was different, sure, but it was totally us. If you’re thinking about doing something a bit out of the ordinary, I say go for it! It’s your day, so make it what you want.
